The images of the fires season in the Cerrado area.

“Every year they light the fires, they are burning everything to clean up the area and take over our reserve,” said Lourdes De Farias, a resident of Cláudia, Brazil, in the video.

A video reportage (in Italian) by One Earth, based on impactful images by the Rainforest Norway Fonudation, shows the ecological and social tragedy of the fires in the Brazilian Cerrado, where the fires are lit to destroy the vegetation and make space for new soy crops.

Since the beginning of August 2020, almost 80,000 fires have been recorded in the Amazon and more than 45,000 fires in the Cerrado.
